The International Federation of European Law (Fédération Internationale pour le Droit Européen - FIDE) established in 1961 brings together associations originating from the Member States of the European Union, which aim to disseminate knowledge of EU law and unite the legal community around the idea of European integration.
One of the most significant manifestations of FIDE's activities is the organization of biennial Congresses, which have been held continuously since 1961 by national associations operating under the auspices of the Federation.
In 2025, for the very first time, Poland will act as the host State of the Congress.
The privilege of organizing the XXXI Congress of 2025 belongs to the Polish Association of European Law (“Polskie Stowarzyszenie Prawa Europejskiego”). The Association is proud to announce that the Congress will be co-organized by the University of Silesia in Katowice and the city of Katowice.
Each Congress is dedicated to three meticulously chosen issues of paramount importance, not only for EU law but also for the entire European project.
Topics of XXXI FIDE Congress:
Topic 1: EU Emergency Law
Topic 2: EU Digital Economy: general framework (DSA/DMA) and specialised regimes
Topic 3: Energy solidarity and energy security – from green transition to the EU’s crisis management
The congress will also be a special event for young researchers, doctoral students and young practitioners. Young FIDE will take place before the Congress, with the aim of promoting the active involvement of PhD students, junior scholars and young practitioners of EU law. During this event, research by young experts on topics related to EU law –mirroring the XXXI FIDE Congress Topics – will be presented.
Detailed programme of the event can be found on our website: Next Congress, Congresses - FIDE, International Federation of European Law.
